This month’s trail consists of an easy rated 3 mile route on the Nimitz Way Trail in Tilden Regional Park! Families with strollers, pets and friends of all ages are welcome. It is mostly unshaded but paved and gently sloped. We will stop halfway for a break, so please bring snacks and plenty of water. Please contact Erin Sicher and Yesenia Gomez for questions.
Calling all middle and high school students! Join us at the church weekly on Sunday evenings for dinner, games and Bible study. For more information, contact our ResYouth Coordinator, Ben Chow, at ben@resoakland.com.
This month we are partnering with Grateful Gatherings, an organization that furnishes homes for families transitioning from homelessness or crisis. Last year they helped over 150 families in the East Bay thrive by providing a safe and comfortable home. Join us to help set up an apartment in Oakland for a single mom and 4 kids (ages 9, 8, 5 and 2) who were previously homeless. In addition to helping with the move-in, you can also participate by purchasing or donating gently used items requested by the family (see button below).
NOTE: We are also looking for one handy volunteer who is able to hang curtains and art on the walls!
Donations can be dropped off on Sundays at the church (1701 Franklin St) on July 27 or Aug 3. Alternatively people can mail items to this address to arrive by Aug 5.

The immigration station on Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay opened on January 21, 1910 to process immigrants arriving from Asia. Unlike its counterpart on Ellis Island, which existed to welcome European immigrants, Angel Island existed to exclude Asian immigrants. Only 20% of immigrants arriving on Ellis Island were detained, while 60% of immigrants who arrived at Angel Island were detained, often for weeks, months, or even years.
